UNCONFIRMED GOSSIP: James Frain in Nikita?

Some very exciting (but completely unconfirmed) speculation from KSiteTV , concerning James's possible role in the pilot of Nikita, which is itself a remake of the 1997 Canadian production La Femme Nikita:

Here’s some as-yet-unconfirmed gossip (so please view it as such).

The @Blabznews Twitter feed posted this tidbit tonight regarding actor James Frain (The Tudors):

#JamesFrain is talking about his involvement in “#Nikita”, a 1 hour pilot produced by #McG, Peter Johnson, and Craig Silverstein for the CW

Could he be the first actor cast for The CW’s Nikita – “Michael” perhaps? Stay tuned… as the pilot is soon to shoot casting announcements should be coming soon.

Frain will be seen next in Season 3 of True Blood.

Fingers crossed that this is true, and if so, that James's role is a good one!

Vigo on DVD!

This is definitely exciting news. One of James's earliest films, Vigo, about the turbulent life of French film maker Jean Vigo, has previously only been available on VHS (and pretty difficult to track down too!). But now, it's being released on DVD, on the 19 April. So far, it's only being released in the UK and Europe, and I don't know yet whether a US release is also planned, but I'll post it here if I find out!

Everybody's Fine US DVD and UK cinema release dates

If you want to catch James's small appearance in Everybody's Fine, it hits cinemas in the UK on the 19 February and is out on DVD in the US on the 23 February.

Tron/Jarvis speculation

We have no way of knowing if any of this will be applicable to James's role in Tron Legacy, but since we know next to nothing about Jarvis so far (in fact, pretty much nothing at all!), speculation is the best we can do!

James-relevant bit:
###

Now comes a little conjecture on my part. Did Flynn willingly choose to stay in the VR world? Despite the disappearance of its CEO, Encom's stock prices soared, which means those left with the keys to the kingdom certainly took a lot of credit. Michael Sheen, James Frain and John Hurt have all been rumored to play villains in Tron Legacy. It's been confirmed that Sheen is a deadly nightclub owner in the game world and Frain personally told About.com that he plays Bridges's right-hand man. Is he referring to Bridges as Flynn or Bridges as the corrupted version of Flynn's avatar Clu?
###
But the really important question is - will James be bald or not in Tron? lol.

James takes America by storm

Very sweet little article about James from TalkTalk, with a gorgeous but totally out-of-date pic!

James Takes America by Storm

British actor James Frain is one of the hottets rising stars in Hollywood at the moment, with roles in FlashForward, Californication and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation boosting his profile.

He's already developed a firm fanbase thanks to his roles in 24 and The Tudors, and interest in him shows little sign of abating.

This summer James can be seen in hit American vampire saga True Blood, and later in the year pops up in small screen fantasy offering Crusades.

However, one of the Leeds-born star's biggets projects is Tron Legact, a big screen sequel to the cult Disney offering Tron.

Recent Oscar nominee Jeff Bridges will reprise his role as Flynn, a seasoned computer games veteran who seems to have gone over to the dark side.

Frain will play a new character called Jarvis in the multi-million dollar epic which is released in 3D this December.

Tron 2...2?

So...even before its out in cinemas, Disney has its eye on making Tron into a TV show, as well as the inevitable Tron Legacy 2. Hopefully, if either of these things materialise, James (who's playing Jeff Bridges's right hand man, Jarvis, in the film) will be involved somehow.

James Frain cast as Vampire Franklin Mott in 'True Blood'

Old news, but always worth repeating. From trueblood-news.com:

James Frain Cast as Vampire Franklin Mott

By Lividity on December 14 2009

Tudors star James Frain has just been cast in the heavily recurring role of Franklin Mott, Tara's over-protective vampire squeeze, sources confirm to ET.

The English actor, whose TV credits include recurring roles on Invasion (as Eli) and 24 (as Paul Raines), will debut in the second episode of the show's upcoming third season.

The casting breakdown for the role describes Franklin as a tall, dark and handsome vampire who seems to have an 'immediate and torrid connection to Tara.
